Designing a logo for Ranchi — Case Study

Following in the footsteps of Bengaluru, we decided to embark on branding our city, Ranchi. Kudos to Vinod Kumar for his innovative design for the Bengaluru logo, which cleverly incorporates a hidden message through contrasting elements. This inspired me to ponder what essential elements a city logo should have. Here are four critical questions to consider:

  1. Does it effectively represent the city's identity and culture?
  2. Is the design versatile enough for various applications, from newsletters to street installations?
  3. Can it remain recognizable and impactful in different sizes and formats?
  4. Does it evoke a sense of pride and connection among the city's residents?

To illustrate the importance of versatility, consider how a logo must adapt to various uses, from digital newsletters to physical structures that people can interact with. A scalable logo is crucial for maintaining consistency and impact across all mediums.

Impact

Got a tweet from City's District Magistrate to get in touch, was super close to implement this further.
